| Charak for research oriented higher education | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 24 Higher education should aim at building a firm edifice for carrying out research and scientific pursuits necessary for expanding knowledge about ‘nature’ and its phenomena. This was stated by Minister for Higher Education Mr Gulchain Singh Charak at the inaugural function of ‘Series of Lectures on issues related to Higher Education’ here at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar. Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education, Mr Pramod Jain, Director Colleges, Dr. N.D Wani were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that Higher education has expanded manifold in the present globalized scenario with increasing number of scholars seeking specialization in different fields of education. Congratulating the Principal of the college for creating a research cell related to higher education, Mr Charak said that this will fulfil the need for incorporating new and creative ideas for the betterment of higher education system and mankind at large. Earlier, Prof Veena Gupta Principal Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu gave a brief account about the innovative programme under IQAC wherein a series of lectures will be delivered by the faculty. The inaugural lecture in the ‘series of lectures’ was delivered by Prof Veena Rani of the Economics Department on the topic “Relevance of Vedic Philosophy” to the subjects taught in the educational institutions in present scenario. The lecture was followed by lively interactive session in which Director Colleges and Commissioner Secretary apart from the faculty and students posed questions to the speaker, Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, Convenor IQAC presented the vote of thanks. |
