Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil has expressed hope that Kashmiri Migrants would willingly return their homes in Kashmir soon as nearly complete normalcy has been restored there. They can no longer resist the urge to live in charming environs of their motherland, he said.
He was addressing Kashmiri migrants of Wachi constituency at Chinore here on Wednesday evening.
The Minister of State for Social Welfare, Education and Forests Mr. G. M. Saroori was also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that Muslim community of Kashmir longs to see their Pandit brethren back in valley as both the communities have lived in perfect harmony for centuries. He said it was in this backdrop that Mahatma Gandhi had seen a ray of hope emanating from Kashmir when the entire sub-continent was engulfed by communal frenzy.
Vakil said the garden of Kashmir nurtured by great saints and seers can’t bloom and give its full fragrance unless the flower it has lost grows again in it with the return of Pandits. He said Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs of Kashmir had a common cultural heritage too strong to be broken by vagaries of times.
The Minister said 6500 new Anganwari centres envisaging employment of 13000 women would be opened in the state to extend and augment supplementary nutrition to all children, expectant and nursing mothers. Transparent process of their engagement would start after the end of budget session. In addition, government would pursue for opening more such centers with central government, he maintained.
Vakil directed DSWO Jammu to cover all the left over widows, old aged and handicapped of Purkhoo, Muthi Phase-I and II camps under Social Security schemes within 10 days. He was also asked to identify women beneficiaries of these camps for distribution of free sewing machines speedily.
Saroori assured to establish 5 Anganwari centres in the migrant camps under the new quota. He eulogized the Pandit community for their contribution in education, economic and social progress of Kashmir.
