| Rat race for JKPCC presidentship continues | | Peerzada likely to continue | | Jammu, Aug 24: The rat race for Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) presidentship in state Congress camp continues giving rise to tuff fight among those lobbying for the high profile post. The election for the post is due as the present President Peerzada Mohammad Sayed has already completed his two years tenure. Highly placed sources, disclosed that various politicians within party are aspiring to reach to the prize post for which each of them have been lobbying through their supporters both with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Central leadership. Party workers in general are also eager for elections for the Post which are held every year in the month of August added the sources. However, as for now no move has been made in this regard by either CM or AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Sources in the party say that while there are names like Mohammad Shafi Qureshi and Ghulam Rasool Kar who could figure as first choice with Central leadership, Taj Mohi-u-din is also putting in use all his sources to clinch the post. “He (Taj) is the immediate threat for the present President Peerzada Sayed as he enjoys the support of Azad, said the sources. He has been putting all his efforts” sources said. Sources, however said that, during visit to Delhi last week end, Peerzada has received green signal to continue on the post while, on the other hand Taj is still hope to make it to the presidentship. |
