| SOG apprehends HM militant from Jammu hideout | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 24 Special Operation Group (SOG) apprehended a terrorist of Hizbul-Mujahideen outfit from a hide out in Jammu city today. Identified as Riaz Ahmed Shah alias Raja son of late Mohammed Shafi Shah of Shangran Theisl Dooru Anantnag was involved in a number of militant related cases in Anantnag and Kulgam districts. SSP Rural Jammu said the arrest has been made during the stepped up operation launched by Jammu Police. He said the subject is involved in case FIR Nos 52/2005 u/s 302 RPC and 7/25 Arms Act at P/S Dooru. He had killed one civilian and since then he was evading his arrest. He is also involved in unlawful activities at P/S Kulgam. The arrested militant is reported have told the police that due to pressure of Police he had surrendered before the Kulgam Police. However, intelligence reports suggest that the subject immediately after his release from Police custody recycled into militancy and joined Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami. During the questioning, the apprehended militant disclosed that he was staying at Jammu and working in a private firm for the last few months to avoid arrest. However, his further interrogation is being carried out to know more facts and ascertain his motive of staying in Jammu, the SSP said. |
