| Govt passes Budget amid mayhem, uproar | | Violent scenes dominate proceedings as opposition's temper runs high Speaker adjourn house twice | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 24 Complete anarchy and mayhem prevailed in Assembly on Thursday as NC members resort to violence to press their demand of sacking 'tainted' ministers, while the government passed the annual budget for the year 2008-09 amid uproar and pandemonium created after entire opposition stormed in the well to disrupt finance minister Tariq Hamid Qarra's reply on general discussion on Budget. The Opposition Members were on their feet soon after the house met for today's proceedings to press their demand of sacking of ministers whose names appear in Kundal Committee report that inquired into misappropriations in State Forest Corporation. From the word go, National Conference members started shouting slogans 'tainted ministers ko barkhast karoo (sack tainted ministers) and Gali Gali mein Shoor hia yeh srakar chor hai. Panther party members who were seen shouting slogans in favour of Governor rule and fresh elections in the state also joined national conference. The Speker Tara Chand made several attempts to restore order but the opposition continued its protest forcing him to adjourn house till 11 am. However, the temper of opposition members touched all time high when the house met gain at 12 noon. As soon as Speaker Tara Chand asked Qarra to deliver his reply on general discussion on budget, entire opposition stormed in the Well of the house shouting slogans at the highest pitch of their voice. The opposition NC members were even seen jostling with the Watch and Ward staff who build a human chain to stop them to reach speaker's Chair. The temper of protesting members was running so high that they even torn the copies of Kundal report and threw the pieces towards the speaker. The protesting members at one time even succeeded in breaking the security chain. Senior National Conference member Ali Mohammad Sagar after releasing himself free even attempted to attack the treasure benches but was stopped by the watch and ward staff. A total mayhem and anarchy prevailed in the house, forcing Qarra to cut short his speech, as nothing was audible in the din. Seeing the situation going completely out of order, the speaker passed the Budget in a hurry and with that declared the House adjourned for the day.
