| Health Minister for strengthening ISM in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 27 Minister for Health, Pt Mangat Ram Sharma has directed Secretary Health and Medical Education to put up a proposal submitted by Director Indian System of Medicines ( ISM) for strengthening and upliftment of the Department. The direction was passed when a deputation of Indigenous Medicines Organization (IMO), headed by its patron-in-chief Dr C D Thappa, president Dr K K Gandotra and general secretary Dr Mahesh Sharma met the Minister to apprise the latter of certain demands in a bid to strengthen the department. While listening to the demands patiently, Pt Mangat Ram Sharma said that the Government will take all necessary steps so that the department is strengthened instead of going for further bifurcation by having separate ISM Directorate. The IMO on the occasion demanded opening of Ayurvedic and Unani Colleges in J&K, enhancement of the budget for ISM, sanction of staff for 45 ISM dispensaries, regularization and release of third time bound promotion. The IMO also demanded creation of the post of Assistant Director Yog, Homeopathy, Planning and centrally sponsored schemes besides creating post of ANM in all 418 dispensaries. The organization appreciated the transparency brought in by the Minister in purchasing medicines for ISM department. It was pointed out that for the first time medicines approved by CGHS were supplied to the ISM dispensaries. It was impressed upon the Minister to introduce RAS medicines especially gold preparations for the public visiting District Hospitals and also other ISM dispensaries. Among others who comprised the deputationists included Dr T R Sandal, Dr K K Kapoor, Dr Rohit, Dr Ajay Tickoo, Dr S K Gupta, Dr Ramesh, Dr Ashok Choudhary, Dr Ashok Sharma, Dr Vinod, Dr Ravi Dutt, Dr M L Sharma, Dr Anil Kant, Dr Deepak Rajan, Dr Sudesh and Dr Mishri. |
