| Ladies cultural prog organised | | Sinha terms it platform to showcase cultural talent of women | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 27 The department of Youth Services and Sports organized a Special Ladies Cultural Programme, as a part of Republic Day celebration 2008 at Abhinav Theatre here today. Premni Sinha, the first lady of Jammu and Kashmir State was chief guest while Mrs. Shamim Azad presided. Director Youth Services and Sports Mr. Ravinder Gupta while welcoming the Chief guest and other distinguished guests said that the department besides organizing sports and other allied activities also provide platform to all sections of society for displaying their talent in the field of art and culture. The welcome address was followed by cultural programmes by different institutions. Dogri and Kashmiri folk songs, dance along with patriotic songs and skits left the audience spell bound. In her address Mrs. Premni Sinha urged the female fraternity to step forward in realizing their potential as an equal citizens of the nation. Appreciating the cultural talent displayed by ladies, she said that such events should be organized more often for giving a forum for bringing out the latent inherent talent amongst females. Azad called upon the ladies to strive for maintaining unity and communal brotherhood. He recalled their contribution during the freedom struggle and asked them to mobilize themselves for building a strong independent India of future. This address was followed by Prize distribution ceremony and then the National Anthem. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Mrs. B R Kundal, Mrs C. Phunsog and Mrs. Pramod Jain. |
