| Consumer Commission dismisses appeal | | ‘Telecom authorities acting maliciously’: Justice Sharma | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 28 Dismissing the appeal filed by the Telecom District Manager Jammu on June 17, 1994 against the order of Divisional Forum whereby a direction was given to the appellant to reduce the amount of the inflated telephone bills of the complainant K K Kotwal of Karan Nagar Jammu, Justice (Retd) G D Sharma President Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission observed that the concerned employees of the appellants had been acting maliciously. The Commission further observed that this fact can be seen from the subsequent conduct of the employees who after issuing the last inflated bill dated August 11, 1993 for Rs.15, 537 issued a genuine bill on dated October 11, 1993 for just Rs.2255. It further said that a modified and genuine bill was issued only after the petitioner had filled a complaint in the Divisional Consumer Forum on September 9, 1993 and thereafter on October 11, 1993 a right signal had gone to the appellant to correct its behaviour. The Commission, while dismissing the appeal which had remained pending in the Commission for the last more than 13 years, upheld the order of Divisional Forum of May 17, 1994. |
