| DELAY IN SETTING RECURITMENT BOARDS FRUSTRATE ASPIRANTS | | | Jammu, August 24 :- Though the police authorities have received applications from several thousand youths for enrollment in two additional police battalions,being raised in the state,the fate of the applicants continues to hang in the balance following delay in setting up recruitment boards. A number applicants told Kashmir Independent Press on Thursday that "we had submitted our applications and every week we have been enquiring the fate of these applications.Everytime we are told that they will received the call for interview when the boards were constituted." Official sources said that the Government was at present engaged in the posting of 57 police officers who had been elevated to the posts of SPs but were performing the duties of DSPs for the last one year.The sources said that within next one fortnight all the officers promoted to the rank of SPS would be adjusted. According to these sources there were six posts of DIGS vacant but with the sanction for raising two additional police battalions the total vacant posts of DIGs has gone up to eight.And eight SSPs were being promoted to the DIG rank shortly. The souces said that the state Government has requested the centre to sanction raising of two more additional battalions of the police so that security related matters in several areas were handedover to the police relieving the Army and the paramilitary forces of handling security related affairs which was the demand of several mainstraem organisations and the separatists.
