| Kathua, Udhampur College win in football | | | Early Times Reporter

Making their presence felt, the Degree College Udhampur and Degree College Kathua today blanked the opponents to make it to the second round of quarterfinals on day one of the inter-college men’s football tournament which went underway under the banner of Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu, here, today.
Earlier, in the first match, Udhampur College outplayed Government MAM (evening) College by five goals to nil. The second match was won by Degree College Kathua trouncing Degree College Rajouri 8-0 in a one-sided contest. Arun Raina helped in making it a big win netting two goals.
In another scheduled match, Degree College Poonch got walkover Acharya Shrichandra College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS). Another match between PG Law and Sciences and Degree College Reasi could not take place after both the teams failed to arrive the venue.
Now, in the quarterfinals, to be played tomorrow, Udhampur College shall take on GGM Science College at 10 am, followed by the second quarterfinal between Degree College Kathua and Government MAM College. Both Science College and MAM College got direct entries into the last eight-stage on the basis of their last year’s performance.
Today’s matches were officiated by Gagan Kumar, David Masih and Ravi Kumar. The tournament is being conducted under the overall supervision of Dr Brij Baloria. |
