| Ashwani Kapoor hockey: Winning start by Singh Club | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 28 Making it a one-sided contest, the Singh Club made a winning start in the Ashwani Kapoor memorial hockey tournament outplaying Diamond Club 6-1 at K K Hakhu Stadium, here this afternoon. Leading by two goals, with scoreboard reading at 3-1, the Singh Club added three more goals after the breather to make it a one-sided contest. Mankamal Singh (15th and 25th), Kamaljeet Singh (27th), Kavaldeep Singh (42nd and 55th) and Taranjit Singh (58th) were scorers from winners Singh Club while Mohan Singh (22nd) reduced the margin for Diamond Club. In all, Singh Club and Diamond Club got three and two penalty corners respectively during the match but no side could avail the opportunities came their way. The 60-minute game also witnessed punishment for 10 minutes to Sukhwinder Singh of winner Singh Club for foul play by the centre referee showing him the yellow card in the 28th minute. Today’s match was officiated by Jagjit Singh, D Singh and P D Singh. The tournament is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association (JKHA) as part of their annual calendar of activities. Next match of the tournament shall be played on January 30, after a day’s break tomorrow, between JKHA (Jr) XI and Zorawar Club at 2.30 pm. |
