| Vet dispensary inaugurated | | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Jan 29 A veterinary dispensary was inaugurated at Katra Base Camp by Major General Panjikar, VSM GOC Uniform Force as part of Operation Sadbhavana today. A large population at Katra earns their livelihood by rearing and employing ponies and mules, tarrying devotees to the holy shrine and back. Operation Sadbhavana Veterinary Dispensary will be located at Chetak Bhavan Base Camp Katra. The building infrastructure has been provided by Sh Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the movable assets and medicines have been provided by the Army through Operation Sadbhavana. The goodwill project will help reduce mortalities in their animals and thereby augment their incomes and foster close ties with the civil population. Divedi, Additional CEO thanked the Army authorities for providing this facility to the poor pony owners. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sanjeev Verma, DC Reasi commended the initiative of Army for providing yet another facility towards fulfilling the demands of the locals. Major General PC Panjikar, VSM GOC Uniform Force, said that the establishment at veterinary dispensary would fulfill the long felt requirement of better and efficient veterinary cover to the animals. He further said that the periodic vaccinations and screening for fatal diseases such as Glanders will also be carried out by the Army to improve the health of the animals. |
