Asking government to ensure the basic amenities, including, road connectivity, management of flood channels, ghats, and inner links be taken up on priority basis , Bhat said that new fish catching technology should be provided and improved fish seed should be given to fish folk of Sonwar and Bandipora who directly depend on fresh water lake for fish, fodder variety of fruits, and vegetables. Bhat also advocated for subsidies and concessions for that majority of fish folk in valley who live at subsistence level mainly due to lack of access to institutional credit facilities for their economic activities. He has also appealed the government to provide fishing equipments and basic amenities including electricity, drinking water and sanitation to fishermen living on the coastline of Wular Lake. Bhat has expressed his concern over the lack of coordination between navy and administration which hampers the livelihood of the fish folk of this area. He has also expressed his concern over the lukewarm approach of the state government vis-à-vis burgeoning problems faced by the fishermen living in Zurimanz, Laharwaalpora, Aloosaghat, Lankrishsipora, Kulhama and Sadarkote payeen where dilapidated inner links have never been attended by rural development or department of roads and buildings.
