PEOPLES CONFERENCE READY WITH THEIR ROAD MAP ON KASHMIR
8/24/2006 10:50:54 PM

Srinagar,August 24: The working committee of the Peoples' Conference, headed by Mr Sajjad Gani Lone, will soon be meeting to finalize the draft of the party’s roadmap on the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
Spokesperson of the Peoples conference said here on Thursday, the General Council of the party, has approved the draft of the roadmap after suggesting some amendments and the same was to be submitted before the working committee
for final approval.
Inside reports said that Mr Sajjad Lone had spent several months on the preparation of over 100-page
document in which he has traced the history of the state, the rise of Jehad, the overall security situation and the final solution which could restore peace in
the state.
These reports said that Mr Lone has suggested to India and Pakistan that instead of taking
credit for the Governments in Delhi and Islamabad for initiating
confidence building measures and for promoting people to people contact the Government should have given the credit to the sacrifices rendered by people during the last 16 years.
Mr Lone is of the view that as a result of continued
sufferings of people of Kashmir a time had come when they were helped to have a feeling that their sacrifices had not gone waste. This warranted a solution that could grant to people of the state what
they had been cherishing and also had the potential of normalising the relations between India and Pakistan.
Party sources said today that the roadmap to be made public shortly is a modified form of ideas and suggestions getting emanated from Srinagar,Delhi and
Islamabad which includes self-governance and joint control.
The roadmap, according to these sources,is neither pro-India nor pro-Islamabad but a mean of total Azadi and de accession.
