| Probe sought into corruption charges against MLA Gulab Garh | | Charged with amassing property worth Rs.50 cr through illegal means | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 29 People’s Action and Public Accountability has demanded a high level probe into the alleged corruption charges leveled against National Conference MLA Abdul Gani Malik by the people of Gulab Garh Mahore. The residents of Mahore in a communication addressed to the Chief Minister have sought appointment of an inquiry commission against Abul Gani Malik MLA Gulab Garh, who according to them, has amassed property of Rs.50 crores by illegal means and by misuse of government funds besides illegally utilizing funds for construction of roads for his personal interest. It alleged that the said MLA has constructed B. Ed College in Balwal area of Jammu by spending crores of rupees and also purchased land worth Rs. one crore in Bathindi in Jammu and raised a palatial house valuing at Rs one crore. In their communication the residents have also alleged that the said MLA allotted maximum works to his father and the works completed are not as per the PWD standards. They further said that MLA’s father is hand in glove with the PWD and PHE Engineers who have blindly passed the forged bills and made payment against the sub-standard works. The PAPA in a handout said that the charges leveled in the communication is another glaring example of malpractices of a sitting MLA as such a thorough probe should be ordered to expose the misdeeds of the public men who enjoy high status in the society and play with the fate of innocent people. |
