Tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi

Rich tributes were paid to the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi Ji on his martyrdom in a function held at PCC Head Quarters Jammu. The function was organized by DCC Urban under the leadership of Om Chopra ex MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers paid floral tributes to father of nation and dwelt at length various aspects of his life and his leadership qualities and the ideals and principles followed by him.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior congress leaders, functionaries of district and block congress committees and frontal organizations also discussed about the organizational affairs and functioning of present coalition govt and suggested the need for readdressing the grievances of the party workers to prepare for the assembly elections.
Others who present on the occasion included Dharampal Sharma, S. Parduman Singh, Yash Paul Khajuria, hari Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Bharat Gandhi, Baldev Sharma, Krishan Lal Gupta, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Bansi La Gupta- Corporator.
Meanwhile to commerate 60 death anniversary of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, afunction was held at Mender Poonch under the leadership of Ch. Zaffarullah. On this occasion, two minutes silence was also observed. Speakers on this occasion, described Mahtam Gandhi a political saint who taught the world lesson of nonviolence and who sacrificed his life for sake of the country.
While Chenab College of Education, on this occasion organized a semiar on the topic of Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi . The seminar was presided over by RS Chib Chairman CCE .
RS Chib Speaking on the occasion said that our youth at present is feeling cynical and not due to ignorance of history and freedom struggle and at this time , the political and administrative system have become victims of large scale corruption which has shaken up the confidence of public. He on this occasion thanked the college fraternity for organizing such seminar.
Two minutes silence was observed in memory of Gandhiji and other people who laid down their lives during freedom struggle of India in various parts of valley today.
In this connection, functions were held at District headquarters of Pulwama and Kupwara under the chairmanship of respective Deputy Commissioners in which officers and employees of various departments participated and paid rich tributes to the martyrs. Two minutes silence was also observed.
