Raman Suri honoured by IVUP Bengaluru for rendering appreciable social services

SRINAGAR, Mar 19: Recognizing his efforts and outstanding contribution to the society, the Indian Virtual University for Peace and Education (IVUP), Bengaluru, has conferred Raman Suri, a prominent social worker and politician from Jammu, with an 'Honorary Doctorate in Social Work (Honoris Causa) with specialization in People's Concern' in the presence of many dignitaries.
The doctorate was conferred at the annual award ceremony of the institute where dignitaries from different walks of life were honoured in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the society and development of the nation at large. The awardees came from across the country with Suri being the only awardee from Jammu & Kashmir.
"I humbly accept this recognition and I will continue contributing towards the betterment of the society by improving the quality of life and quality of thoughts of people. We are One World, One Family. Peace is our only destination. Our society comprises of all of us. So, we all should start this wonderful journey of the uplifment of the society and a peaceful world, at the individual level and then see the change... Jai Hind," said Suri while accepting the honour.
Belonging to a business family, Suri always had an urge to do something for the betterment of society and to uplift the masses. He has actively contributed towards Nation Building as well. He started his works as early as 1998 by joining an N.G.O., as All India Sr. Vice President. One of his prominent works being the key role in Shri Amarnath Yatra in the year 2000 & 2001.
He got commendation certificate from the then Sr. Superintendent of Police Farooq Khan, for his outstanding performance and efficiency in administrating the Yatra arrangements. He also did many projects in association with many other NGO's, Business Associations, Social Welfare Organizations, Lions Club, Orphans Home, Vridh Aashrams, etc.
He was unanimously elected President of Lakhdata Bazar Businessmen Welfare Association in August 2013 and remained on the post till August 2017 and took various steps for the upliftment of Bazar. Other posts held by him include Chairman of 'Sarafa Association and Swarnkar Sangh Joint Action Committee' Jammu as well as the Executive Member of many Prominent Associations of Jammu.
He also held the post of Member SLCC, FCI J&K, Union Ministry of CAPD, after being nominated by the Government of India, in the year 2015, for two years and did many works for the upliftment of FCI in J&K.
He also became the very First Valuer of Jewellery from J&K, appointed by the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, and following the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he announced free services during the Income Disclosure Scheme 2016, to all the people of India on 15th August 2016, in a function organized by the Department of Income Tax. After successful completion of IDS, he got a Certificate titled "Appreciation for Contribution in Nation Building" from Principal Commissioner of Income Tax J&K, in an impressive function organized by the Department of Income Tax, J&K.
