| Army School teams in semis of Gold Cup football | | | Early Times Reporter

Army Public School (APS) teams (Junior and Senior) have entered the semi-finals of the Ist DFA Gold Cup Football Tournament organized at Major Narayan Singh Stadium, Domail near here by the District Football Association.
In the first quarterfinal, APS (Senior) trounced Tejaswani Football Club 4-3 in tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Ankit took the first lead for APS in the 25th minute which was equalized by Manav Sharma three minutes later. The second half of the match remained goalless. It was followed by the extra time, which too failed to yield any results.
However, in the tie-breaker, APS prevailed over Tejaswani Club 4-3 to enter the semi-finals. Ankit, Philnes and Kulbushan were successful penalty shooters from APS while Vikas and Gurmeet missed the target. From Tejaswani Club, Manav and Thapa scored the goals while Bhujal, Tsering and S A Khan missed.
In the second quarterfinal, played in the morning session, APS(Junior) blanked JK Public School 8-0. Naresh (10th, 28th, 51st), Randeep (55th), Pranav (56th), Sanjit (63rd) and Aspreet (67th and 69th) were the scorers in the 70-minute game.
The match between APS (Senior) and Tejaswani Football Club was witnessed besides others by Hakumant Chand, district Doda president of Congress(I) and District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur, Bhaskar Nath Bhat.
Earlier, in the first round yesterday, Supersonic Club beat Dhrona Club 10-0 while Nehru Memorial School Club got walkover Kalra College.
Next matches: Shivalik Dribblers shall take on Udhampur Football Club at 11.30 am, followed by the second match at 3 pm between KV-I and Nehru Memorial School Club tomorrow.
