Kishtwar, Mar 20: The Hydraulic Division Kishtwar which is hit by various scandals in last several years is in the eye of a storm as people are angry over acute shortage of potable water. The people registered protest today and blocked the main road near Dak Banglow.
With each passing day before the onset of the summer, the water crises in Kishtwar district are worsening due to poor administrative management of PHE officials. As per the details available with "Early Times" the inhabitants of Matta village and its adjoining areas having population of around 4000 souls blocked the road at Dak Banglow Kishtwar.
The angry protestors blaming the officials of the PHE department for giving water connections from gravity lines to influential people registered strong protest. They said that despite visiting the office of Executive Engineer and AEE Kishtwar several times, nothing has moved.
The angry protestors were raising the slogans against the government, concern MLA and the officials of the department for their collective failure in solving the problem. The Executive Engineer Hydraulic Division Kishtwar too visited the spot but had to run for cover after facing public wrath. Meanwhile on the direction of ACR Kishtwar, Executive Engineer Hydraulic Division Kishtwar constituted three member committee comprising AEE Indu Bushan Sharma, JE Murli Lal Sharma and I/C Work Supervisor Satish Kumar Butyal with the direction to remove the illegal water connections from the gravity line leading to the Matta Reservoir as was allege by the people who were demanding open gravity line for the village.
