| Udhampur girl ends fast, gets toilet | | |  Arun Jasrotia

Udhampur, Mar 20: A Class 10th girl got a toilet built at her house in Upper Kud village of Block Chenani in district Udhampur after she refused to eat or drink until it was constructed. Nisha a 10th Class heard of the importance of having a toilet at home at an awareness programme organised by the District Administration Udhampur. Inspired by the awareness campaign, Nisha Rani decided to fast until she get a toilet in her House. She has now been named the icon of the village. The spirited struggle of Rani has inspired the villagers and her parents who initially declined her request gor toilet. After getting information about the fast Deputy commissioner Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar instructed the Block development officer to start the Construction work of toilet in her house. Nisha Rani said that "It was not only irritating, but also spoiled our village's healthy atmosphere. I wondered why these people did not worry about their dignity. We have a toilet in our house and everyone in the house uses it. I wanted all villagers to have this facility," she added. She further added that I started campaigning from my own house. than I starts it from mohalla, than Village she added. Ravinder Kumar Deputy commissioner when contacted said that each house in the village shall get a toilet soon. |
