Early Times Report

Rajouri, Mar 20: Feeling betrayed after the assurance given by the local administration, the people of Nowshera Sub Division today blocked National Highway for three hours in support of their demand for ADC post in Sub Division. Thousands of people today assembled at Nowshera Highway and blocked the road for couple of hours hampering vehicular movement as a mark of protest. They alleged that although District Development Commissioner Rajouri Shahid Chowdhary had given them assurance on March 17 about formal order for the ADC to be issued on March 19, 2108 (Monday) as Chief Minister was in Srinagar and will return Jammu on Monday and order will be issued then.
The protestors were on scheduled protest march on March 17 from Nowshera to Jammu to press the Government to concede their demand of posting of Additional Deputy Commissioner at Nowshera Sub Division as they reached Lambhari Government High School which is 20 Kms from Nowshera, the DDC Rajouri rushed to the spot and talked to the protesters. "DDC Rajouri conveyed to us that in view of their demand, the government has decided to deploy ADC at Nowshera Sub Division and formal order in this connection will be issued as soon as the arrival of Chief Minister Mehbooba at Jammu from Srinagar," they alleged that after getting convinced they didn't proceed further and waited theMonday but they were betrayed as the deadline of Government assurance of Monday passed but no order was issued which shows that the Government is playing dilly delaying tactics will the people of Nowshera.
Despite their anger, the protestors allowed the movement of Army Vehicles, Ambulances and vehicles carrying senior citizens. Giving ultimatum of 24 hours to Government, the protestors said that if their demand was not met within warning time period, a vigorous agitation will be launched against government. In view of the growing anger of the people, the CRPF has been deployed in the sub division to avoid any untoward incident.
