Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had earned wrath of secessionists in the valley for propagating Gandhi’s ideals and he has also earned an award named after the Mahatama today. However, when it comes to percolating the ideal’s Azad propagates, they do not seem to seep deep into the party’s creamy layer.
This became evident from the absence of ministers and legislators at a meeting held at PCC headquarters here today where a large number of party workers and senior leaders had gathered to pay homage to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on his dearth anniversary.
Not only that none among the ministers or legislators (but one MLC) were present at the gathering, the other occurrence at the venue was workers’ expressing anger over few ministers and legislators blaming them of neglecting the party interests and indulging into sycophancy. The workers lamented that the attitude of some veterans in the party has led the party towards downfall and has made difficult for them to face the electorate at ground level.
Further feeling annoyed over absence of ministers and MLAs at the programme, the workers stated leveling series of charges against the top level leadership saying that the party has become a haven for sycophants who have been misguiding the chief minister and even the central leadership only to meet their vested interests.
The workers expressed that these leaders deliberately hide ground realities from the chief minister and other veterans so as to benefit themselves. They also said that working for party’s benefit has become least priority for these seniors who do not care to attend the party office not only on occasions like today but otherwise also.
Few workers also expressed unhappiness over the decision to appoint Saif-ud-Din Soz as PCC chief saying that this shows that sycophancy was ruling the roost within the Congress. They said it was because of wrong pictures being presented by certain sycophants within the party that a turncoat and defector like Soz has been appointed on the post.
The function that was organized by district president of the party OM Chopra was attended by the workers and a very few seniors comprising mostly of district office bearers only besides just three corporators an MLC and some former MLAs. This despite a good number of ministers and legislators representing the district in state Assembly. |
