| Council’s snow skiing camp concludes | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 1 Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in snow clad Gulmarg, the fortnight long sixth snow ski camp concluded with the holding of prize distribution function presided over by member J&K State Sports Council, Bashir Ahmed Malik. Speaking to the trainees, Bashir Ahmed encouraged the young boys to take up adventure sports in a big way fully availing the natural gift of snow in the Valley. A veteran footballer and general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Bashir also made the campers aware of vast scope of skiing at the international level. In all, 30 boys (between 16-year to 22 years) underwent basic training under the guidance of ski instructor of the J&K State Sports Council, Abdul Rashid Tantry. Earlier, the Sports Council selected the prospective boys on the basis of screening and then short listed 30 trainees for the camp. All the expenses including boarding and lodging during the camp were born by the Sports Council. Meanwhile, Bashir Malik told SAN that the next 15-day long camp for both boys and girls shall take place at the same venue from February three. |
