| Football: Commerce College retains title | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 1 The SPMR College of Commerce today retained the inter-college football title beating Government MAM College 4-0 in the final played at University of Jammu grounds, here today. It was Mohinder Singh who made it a big win striking twice in the 8th and 30th minute thereby guiding his side to a 2-0 lead at the end of first half in the 45-10-45 minute game. After the breather MAM College played some good soccer but poor guard at the net costs the team most. Lack of on part of the MAM goal-keeper helped Commerce College add two more goals thus making it a big win. Parkash Thakur made third goal in the 50th minute followed by a header from Abhimanyu Mahajan in the dying minutes. The final besides others was witnessed by Principal of the Commerce College, Prof M S Baloria as chief guest. He patted the college boys after team’s triumph for the second consecutive time and further boosted their morale by giving them encouraging words. Watched by a healthy crowd of young football lovers, the final was officiated by David Masih, Daljit Singh, Gagan Kumar and Rajinder Singh. Inter-college football tournament was organized by Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu under the guidance of Dr Brij Baloria. |
