| All three gynecologist posts at Doda hospital is vacant | | Total 14 posts including 5 assistant surgeon and lone A-grade surgeon’s post are lying vacant | | Early Times Reporter Doda | Feb 2 Accepting the inefficiency of doctors if faced with unknown case scenarios, Abdul Majid Wani, an independent MLA from Doda still has no objection if an Asst Surgeon agrees to perform the duties of a gynecologist which are two separate skills or areas of specification according to the medical field. It is ironical on the part of the Government and the MLA that knowing fully well the fact that all 3 gynecologist posts are lying vacant at district hospital Doda they still have not bothered about the risk of putting the life of an unborn child and its mother at risk. It is worth mentioning that in the said hospital out of a total of 39 doctors posts, 14 are lying vacant of which includes 5 assistant surgeons, 3 gynecologists, 2 dentists, 1 A grade surgeon, 1 blood bank officer, 1 Jr radiologist and 1 Jr anesthetist Moreover the Chief Minister during his visit at Doda on 4th of January was supposed to inagurate the new district hospital complex but suspended the decision on the reason that he will inaugurate the complex only when the In-patient ward too is completed. “The CM on one side claims that during his time, health centers were opened but here in district hospital 14 posts are vacant of which 3 are gynecologist and he is going to inagurate the same without filling these posts” said advocate C L Thakur, president Doda Development Front. When MLA Doda was contacted he denied the vacancy of gynecologist and said that two doctors are providing the gynecologist services there. However he accepted that he has received a complaint against Dr Varsha, who is presently posted as an Asst Surgeon but is filling the shoes of a Gynecologist, and the MLA further, says that she has lack of experience but is a gynecologist. He also said, “why should they inaugurate the hospital where the employed staff is deficient?” Accepting the lack of infrastructure he said that CT scan machine, which was sanctioned, for the hospital during a meeting chaired by the CM is still pending installation. When director health, Dr Jasbir Singh was contacted he delayed appointment a number of time giving the excuse of his busy schedule. However on telephone he refuted non-availability of Gynecologist there beside this he refused to say anything regarding the vacancy of gynecologist and other staff members there. |
