| Hockey: Khalsa Blue wins in sudden death | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 2 Govind Club Chatha recorded a 9-8 victory over Khalsa Blues in sudden death to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Ashwani Kapoor Memorial Hockey Tournament underway at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today,. While deciding the fate of the match in sudden death, Jaspreet Singh successfully netted the ball while Gurupratap of Khalsa Club missed after the match remained undecided (8-8) in the tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time, the game ended in a 4-4 draw with Pardeep scoring two goals for the winners in the 14th (PC) and 27th minute. Other two goals for Govind Club were scored by Jaspreet Singh (PC) and Abhijeet Singh (7th). From Khalsa Club, K P Singh (Ist), Karnail Singh (34th and 57th) and Gurupratap Singh (51st) were the scorers. The result could not be achieved even in the extra time forcing the organizers to go for tie-breaker. Later, in tie-breaker, the match again ended in 8-8 draw. Jaspreet Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Amarjeet Singh and Harminder Singh were successful in penalty strokes while Pargat Singh missed. From Khalsa Club, Gurupratap Singh, K P Singh, Khushwant Singh and Aman Singh scored goals while Rajiinder Singh missed the target. Today’s match was officiated by Jagjeet Singh, D Singh, Harmeek Singh and PD Singh. Next match: Khalsa Club to take on Zorawar Blues tomorrow at 2.30 pm. |
