Protests, shutdown continue
3/31/2018 11:41:28 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, Mar 31: State Government despite adopting 'Chankaya Neeti' of 'Saam-Daam-Dand-Bhed' to crush the ongoing struggle for district status by the people of Nowshera, has failed to pacify the protesters and to break the stalemate. The indefinite strike by Nowshera people has entered 44th day and a complete shutdown was also observed.
In the morning today people took out a protest rally in favour of their demands and after passing through various bazaars protesters assembled at Patel Chowk where they were addressed by the members of Joint Action Committee (JAC)
People from every section of society of Nowshera sub division have joined the struggle and the indefinite strike has badly hit the functioning in the government offices, local courts, banks etc. On Thursday a team of Jammu Bar Association also visited Nowshera, held interaction with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) members and extended their support including any legal support on un-wanted police action on the peaceful protesters.
'We are getting support from every corner of Jammu province including that from Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CCI), Bar Association, Jammu, Business Association, Jammu etc. Our demand for district status will continue till we achieve our goal," said Subhash Kapoor, president JAC & Beopar Mandal.
He added Beopar Mandal Jammu has been extending every possible support to us despite complete shut down and the moral of the people is very high as they have decided not to succumb to any pressure from the state government.
"Youth leaders have made clear to DDC that till the state government grants the district status, they won't suspend their agitation," he said.
