| Satpal may join hands with Praja Parishad | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 3 BSP dissident leader Dr Satpal is exploring the possibility of joining hands with the Praja Parsishad during the 2008 assembly polls in order to win a sizeble number of seats in Jammu. Inside reports suggest that soon after falling apart from the BSP the dissident leader Dr Satpal was making constant efforts to woo upper caste Brahmin voters and was exploring the possibility of forging an alliance with the Praja Parishad chief for the 2008 assembly polls President of Brahmin dominated Praja Parishad ,Mr Chander Mohan, when contacted said here today that "I had a couple of meetings with Dr Satpal and decks were being cleared for an alliance between the BSP faction led by him and the Praja Parishad." He said that modalities for the alliance were being discussed and hoped that the arrangement will fructify shortly.He said that soon after the BSP won the UP elections its leadership had evinced interest in repeating the experiment of securing cooperation from the upper cast people in Jammu and Kashmir.However,the camp headed by Ms Mayawati wanted the Praja Parishad to merge with the BSP which Mr Chander Mohan rejected. Mr Chander Mohan said that he suspected the hand of BSP General secretary,Mr Narender Kashyap in sabotaging the alliance between the BSP and the Praja Parishad. He said that the recent split in the BSP has allowed a chance to Dr Satpal to emerge stronger than the BSP faction headed by Mr Yashpal Bhagat. In reply to a question he said that in case the alliance with the BSP faction led by Dr Satpal did not materialise the Praja Parishad will field its candidates in more than 20 constituencies in the Jammu region during the next poll scheduled in October 2008.He made it clear that alliance with Dr Satpal led BSP could prove beneficial for it and the Praja Parishad.
