| Khana highlights NYKS achievement in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 3 Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan(NYKS), zonal director K L Khana today highlighted the achievements made by the Sangathan from past six years in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and revealed further programmes of the Sangathan to provide non-student rural youth with the opportunity to grow and achieve national goals. Addressing in a press conference here on Sunady, Khana said that Nehru Yuva Kendra was established in 1972 by the Ministry of youth Affairs and Sports, GOI with the main objectives of involving the rural youth in nation building activities, develop their skills and values so that they become productive, responsible citizens of a modern India, to purse self sufficiency in resources and others. Disclosing that NYKS exists in all the fourteen districts of the state, he said that at present 3,248 youth clubs have been affiliated to Nehru Yuva Kendra's in the state, adding that so far there existing 2500 youth clubs in J&K but only 200 of them got only registered while rest lacking because of the verifications in view of on going militancy. He also said that they got good moral encourage management from the Jammu and Kashmir government in establishing these centers in the parts of the state. He further revealed that NYKS is the largest grass-root organization in Asia-Pacific Region, catering to the needs of more than 8.26 million rural youth through 2.53 lakh villages based youth clubs and mahila mandals. "Our members have become ministers in centre, MP's, MLA's and held other top posts in the country" he said , adding that the nominated MLA of Poonch was also a member of the Kendra. Others present on the occasion included distt. Youth coordinator, Nissar Ahamed Boat, deputy director Rajasthan Prohit Kumar, distt. Coordinator Skim, Puran Kumar, distt Youth coordinator Budgam A A Mir, deputy director J&K, S S Kashap and others.
