| Proper tapping of tourism potential sought | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 3 Stating that taxi operators and tourist guides are the pillars of tourism Mahesh Padha, president Jammu Tourist Trades Employees Federation (JTTEF) said that there is need to tap this source in promoting and regulating tourism and pilgrimage in state. Addressing media persons Mahesh Padha stressed upon initiating training programme for traders associated with tourism industry. He said that with the start of short term courses for training these ground level tourism promoters in hospitality, protocol and imparting them information about tourist and pilgrims spot in the state will benefit the industry in the state. He further said that lot has been done to attract tourism but still their gap in promoting state tourism. Calling the Jammu Aquarium as a big attraction for tourist he said that the department has not done much to promote this as tourist destination out and inside the state. He added that Jammu-Sialkote road should be opened as it too can prove great attraction for tourist as well. Cautioning the Shrine Board he said that it should not indulge in construction process.
