| J&K in final of Forest Football Meet | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Feb 3 Beating Goa 3-1, the J&K State Forest Corporation XI today reached the final of 16th All India Football Meet underway at Ahmadabad in Gujarat, repeating the last year’s performance. Now, J&K shall take on Jharkhand in the final tomorrow. It may be recalled that last year J&K had lost in the final. Reports reaching here said that in the semi-finals played today, J&K Forest XI defeated Goa by three goals to one virtually making it a one-sided contest. Meanwhile, general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Bashir Ahmed Malik has appreciated the efforts of the young team of the State Forest Corporation revived last year by recruiting about 12 young footballers. “Last year about 12 new boys were included in the new look Forest team and in the same year the team produced results by reaching the final of All India Forest Meet. The boys have repeated the feat and deserve recognition,” Bashir Malik told Sports & Allied News. He added that the time has come when the boys need their permanent appointment in the Corporation as against present contractual posting. Bashir Malik also congratulated the J&K Bank football team for winning a national level tournament in Punjab the other day.
