Shito Ryu Seiko Kai Karate Do Association, one of the recognized styles of All India Karate-Do Federation (AIKF), today organized an Invitational Karate (sub-junior and junior) Championship at Luthra Building, here with an aim to promote the style in the J&K.
The fights took place in different age groups of both boys and girls amidst claps from the distinguished gathering of parents and the participants.
The highlight of the competition was prize distribution by the parents of the competitors, who gave away medals to the winners as chief guest and guests of honour. Among those who presented medals and encouraged the karatekas were Chief Prosecuting Officer, Mehroof Ahmed Manhas, chairman Luthra College of Education, Rajeev Luthra and chairman, J&K Group of Colleges, Navneet Mishra.
Earlier, the day-long competition was organized by a team under the overall supervision of Ambedkar Gupta. The team was comprised of Shaveta Gupta, Devidayal Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar and Babu Rout. In all, around 100 young karatekas, including those from Kathua, took part in the event.
