| Vakil emerges Azad’s lone Vakil | | Says, elements of corruption have pooled resources against CM | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 3 When two Ministers of the Peoples Democratic Party fell in the line of fire from opposition for their alleged role in the forest scam, the Chief Minister made all efforts to protect them –at least for stability of his coalition or as a matter of courtesy to the coalition partner. However, the pointing fingers have been raised on the Chief Minister –though vehemently denied by him –the not only the partner Peoples Democratic Party but also his own Congress party is watching from the bay. When the television news channel aired a story full of suspicion dragging Chief Minister into the Forest murk alleging that he favoured his brothers, the war against corruption apparently suffered a blow. Reacting to evidence made available to the channel, the Chief Minister himself said that a “smear campaign has been launched to dissuade me from my war against corruption”. Having said and heard and said all that, none from the Congress or the Peoples Democratic Party uttered even a single word in defence of the Chief Minister and he was allowed alone to explain things. This was something well expected from the PDP, but Congress leaders would seal their lips was something strange. However, the all time Man Friday of the Chief Minister Azad, the newly inducted Minister Abdul Ghani Vakil has emerged as the only party leader to defend the Chief Minister’s war against corruption and launch a campaign to tell public that Azad was being tarnished for moving against the corrupt elements. “corrupt elements in the state have pooled their resources and joined hands in their last attempt to drag the Chief Minister into the controversy to divert public attention from their misdeeds and blunders they had committed. “This has boomeranged and exposed them and their masters”, he added. Addressing a public meeting at New Plot here today, Mr. Vakil said, “Nothing can deter Chief Minister’s determination to book the culprits and drag them out of their hideouts to face the law”. Vakil citing a persian adage Che dilawar ast duzde-ki bakaf charag darad meaning so hypocrite is the thief that he himself carries a torch in hand to find out the thief. He said shattered by witnessing the writing on the wall and getting exposed before public corrupt elements were trying to dislodge the war waged by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad right from the day first to eradicate corruption and bring the corrupt elements to justice. Vakil said that it would not be let down by vilification gimmicks and the entire public of Jammu and Kashmir state were behind him in this noble cause. He assured the Chief Minister that all rank and file of the congress and honest opinion leaders across the state would strengthen his drive against misappropriation and corruption and would support him in this direction.
