| BJP demands special Parliament session | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 3 The BJP on Sunday demanded that the UPA government immediately convene a special session of Parliament for a debate on the problems of farmers in the wake of the alarming increase in the number of suicides among them. "The agrarian sector is in the grip of an unparalleled tragedy, as 70,000 farmers committed suicide last year", BJP president Rajnath Singh told a press conference here. "The UPA government is faceless, directionless and spineless", he charged and demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh implement the National Farmers' Commission report submitted by eminent agricultural scientist, Dr M S Swaminathan.
