Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 4 Jammu and Kashmir will soon have a new policy for rehabilitation of militancy victims as a comprehensive proposal has been submitted to the Centre for approval. The new proposal, abolishing the policy of providing government jobs to kin of militancy victims, has been submitted to the Centre, official sources said. As part of the proposal, Rs three lakh would be given as compensation to family of each militancy victim, they said. Earlier, family of each militancy victim used to get Rs one lakh as compensation and a government job to one of the kin. Under this policy, 2,370 people have been appointed since 1994 till 2003, they said adding 3,700 application under the old scheme were still pending with the authorities. |
