| MIER Celebrates 72nd foundation day | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 4 Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) celebrated its foundation day to commemorate the completion of 72 glorious years in the field of Education and Research. An impressive function was organized on this occasion. Minister of Higher Education, Th. Gulchain Singh Chark was the chief guest on the occasion. Director MIER, Dr. Arun K. Gupta presided over the function on this occasion. The function was attended by other dignitaries including members of the board of directors, high ranking officials, social activists, prominent citizens and large number of parents of the students. Charak on his visit paid rich tributes to the founders of MIER late Prof HL Guprta and Prof. Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait. DR. Arun K gupta in his welcome address described the Charak as the son of the soil and true representative of Dogra traditions, heritage and culture. He thanked the public and parents for giving full support to MIER for the last over seven years in the achievement of its noble educational objectives. He also thanked the govt, university and board authorities for reposing confidence in the programmes offered by the institute. He also highlighted the achievements of the institute and also announced the starting of the MBA and M.Ed programme in MIET and MIER this year. A cultural extravaganza presented by the students of the institute mesmerized the whole audience. The students on the occasion performed on various items like Ladakhi dance, Musical fusion, scintillating display of KARATE, Punjabi dance, English plays depicting the fairy tale world of snow white and court scene from famous Shakespearean play The Merchant of Venice. While speaking on the oacssion, Charak lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life. He further described the yeoman service rendered by MIER to the society and state as exemplary and observed that the institution had become mature enough to function as University. He also lauded the efforts of teachers and students in organizing such colorful function. Principal of MIER, Prof. Arun Gupta presented the vote of thanks and assured that institute will continue to serve the society with greater verve and enthusiasm. |
