| Sheikh Rehman criticize Thackery's remarks | | Activists held protest, burn effigy | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 4 Hundreds activist of Jammu and Kashmir Samajwadi Party (SP) today held a protest demonstration against the Maharashtra Naw-Nirwan Sena President RaJ Thackery and burnt his effigy on the occasion. The protest was led by ex-MP and state president Samajwadi party Sheikh Abdul Rehaman who alleged the Maharashtra Naw- Nirwan president for his anti- social statements and tried to create a wedge between the communities and regions. While speaking on the activists, Rehaman said that there was no place for communalism and regionalism in Indian politics and demanded that the government should take stern action against those threatening the unity and integrity of the country. He also criticized the Maharashtra government for its failure to curb the supporters of Raj Thacker who were openly thrashing the North Indian drivers, labourers and Rehriwala's in Mumbai. The activists on the occasion were seen raising slogans against Raj Thackery and later burnt his effigy. Addressing to media persons later on, Sheikh Abdul Rehaman said that united national front organized a rally in Mumbai for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the country and also stated that the rally was participated by the leaders like Dr.Farooq Abdullah, Mulam Singh Yadhav, Chander Babu Nadio, Om Prakash Chutalla and others. He further said that Samajwadi Party will contest coming elections in the state and ruled out any pre poll alliance, however maintaining that the party may consider on seat sharing with like minded parties. |
