| J&K wins All India Forest Football Meet | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 4 Creating history the State Forest Corporation team has won the All India Forest Football title outplaying Chattisgarh (3-1) in the final which was played at Ahmadabad in Gujarat today. Repeating their last year’s performance of entering the final, the boys were upbeat not to lose the chance of winning the title this time and finally clinched the trophy giving exceptional performance. According to the reports reaching here J&K Forest XI dominated the proceedings throughout with Wasim, Toufeek and Sameer scoring one goal each. “This is back of back performance of professional teams from Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, J&K Bank won a national level tournament in Punjab and now J&K Forest XI created history, so I can say that the standard of football in the state has improved,” speaking to SAN general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Bashir Ahmed Malik told. Defending the boys, playing for Forest XI, Bashir Malik urged the Managing Director of State Forest Corporation to enroll the young team on permanent basis. “I think the boys have done their job winning the prestigious title, now it becomes the duty of those at the helm of affairs to protect them and reward the young blood suitably,” maintained the JKFA general secretary. Earlier, in the semi-finals yesterday, J&K Forest XI defeated Goa in a similar fashion by three goals to one. |
