| Blatant ‘cultural’ nepotism brings embarrassment to CM | | Backdoor appointments in Cultural Academy –an entire in-house show | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 4 While defending his war against corruption, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad must have stunned to learn that the State Accountability Commission has a complaint against him as well. A day before the state Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die, the government have a written reply on cases registered against Ministers and Legislators. This was in response to a question of Ali Mohammad Sagar of National Conference. The list said that 22 sitting and former Ministers and legislators have cases against them in the Accountability Commission. It had come as a surprise that the SAC had a complaint against the Chief Minister as well. However, what was more surprising was the fact that the Chief Minister apparently did not know what he has been arrayed for. Details said that a complainant had made complaint against the Chief Minister as some backdoor appointments were made in the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages of which the Chief Minister is President. Sources said that the Chief Minister never had an idea that any appointments were made in the Cultural Academy in violation of rules. The case is being examined and it is learnt that rules had actually been violated in making a number of appointment but the Chief Minister never had any idea about this. In perusal of records pertaining to the appointments allegedly made in violation of rules it comes out that these were not only the backdoor appointments but in fact the backdoors had been kept wide open to adjust relatives of most of the officers of the Cultural Academy. EARLY TIMES is in possession of a complete list of the backdoor appointments and copies of orders and records pertaining to these appointments made in blatant violations of rules. Interestingly, all these appointments have been made without notifying the positions and without putting the aspirants to a competition. In fact this was never desired by the authorities as all those people appointed happen to be close relatives of the officers of the Academy. Of the 23 appointments made without notifying the positions, 14 beneficiaries are close relatives of the officers of the Academy while nine others are close associates of them.
