In the ongoing annual inter-college men’s tournament, Government SPMR College of Commerce, MAM College and PG Departments of University of Jammu made it into the quarterfinals of men’s inter-college badminton tournament underway at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu, here today.
In pre-quarterfinals today, Commerce College trounced Degree College Udhampur 3-1. Losing the first singles, Commerce College fought back winning the remaining games to make it into the last eight stages. The results: Singles: Nitish Sharma lost to Kapil Kumar and Sahil Sharma bt Karam Singh. Doubles: Sahil Sharma and Prateek Malhotra bt Kapil Kumar and Amish Regra. Reverse singles: Shashi Shankar bt Rajesh Sharma.
In another pre-quarterfinal encounter, the combined side of PG Departments trounced GGM Science College 3-0. The results: Singles: Ashwani Kotwal bt Sumit Sharma and Atul bt Pradeep. Doubles: Ashwani and Atul bt Sumit and Pradeep.
The MAM College won their tie against Science College (Evening) 3-0 rather easily. The results: Singles: Vikram Saini bt Sumit Ghai and Vipul Saini bt Adish Pandit. Doubles: Vikram and Vipul bt Rohit and Adish.
Today’s matches were officiated by a team of qualified persons including Vikram Jamwal and Ravish Vaid under the supervision of Ramesh Magotra of Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu. |
