| JKAWHU stages protest demonstration | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 5 Aggrieved Anganwari workers and helpers under the banner of J&K Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union (JKAWHU) today held a demonstration in front of the Divisional Commissioners officec to focus the attention of the state government authorities of social welfare department towards their genuine demands. The protest was held under the aegis of State president , Jammu and Kashmir national trade union front(JKNTUF) Gafoor Dar who criticized the delaying policies of the state government for last more than two decades which affected the families of Anganwari workers. Hundreds of Anganwari workers and helpers assembled at Mubark Mandi complex here today and staged a strong protest demonstration against the state government and social welfare department for their callus attitude towards 35000 anganwari workers and helpers. The protestors were shouting slogans in favour of their demands which included enhancement of wages of anganwari workers and helpers from present wages, implementation of contributory pension scheme, provision of 100% promotion quota to qualified workers and restoration of selection list of anganwari workers declared two years back. "Government is giving a meager honorarium of Rs.1300 per month to us and it is very difficult to meet the family expenditure on this least amount", said Sunita Devi. While addressing protestors on the occasion, state president JKNTUF urged the state government to meet with the genuine problems of the anganwari workers so that their families may save from further starvation. Others addressd on the occasion included Haneefa Begaum, Rachna Devi, Suman Suri, Shahana, Kanchan Parihar, Fatima, Prakash Devi and others. |
