| JKCCTU stages protest demonstration | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 5 The employees and workers of Jammu and Kashmir Co-ordination Committee of Trade Union (JKCCTU) today staged a protest dharna outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu in support of their demands. The workers were demanding withdrawal of new pension bill interim relief of Rs 1000 till the implementation of 6th pay commission, increasing of GPF, CPF interest rate to 12 pc, regularization of casual/contractual and Anganwadi workers, increase in wages, providing technical grade SRO-149 and others. Mohd Maqbool, state president of the Union criticized the central and state government anti-workers policies and said that due to such polices, the interest of the workers are at stake. Elaborating further, he said that rising prices, slaughtering of employees rights through privatization of pension, outsourcing and contractualization of jobs has created wide spread resentment among the employees which needs to be channelized through a consistent and united struggle to reverse these polices. Lambasting the state government for ignoring workers, employees in this year budget, he demanded increase in wages of casual workers, helpers and anganwadi workers. Among others who participated in dharna were Ram Kumar Sharma, Abdul Gani Bhat, Hasseena Sofi and others. |
