A Himachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation employee died due to smoke inhalation, while two others were believed to be missing, in remote area of Paddar of mountainous Kishtwar district, which is witnessing heavy snowfall, from last evening.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that two employees of HPSRTC accompanied by another employee of HP PWD were on their way from Pangi (Himachal) to Paddar area of Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir, when they went missing.
Civil authorities were informed by the Pangi administration about the missing government officials. Paddar Police was immediately informed, which reported that the trio was struck at Pyari, about 20 kilometers on foot from Gulabgrah.
"A rescue team of police and doctors was immediately rushed to the Pyari", Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Riyaz Ahmed Zargar told NAK. He said that despite heavy snowfall and bad weather conditions the rescue team reached to the spot and brought the HP government employees to Gulabgrah.
"One of them identified as Gansham was found dead, while another, Lekhraj, was seriously ill", Zargar added.
He said that as per the reports reaching so far the trio was on way to Kishtwar from Pangi area of Himachal Pradesh via Paddar. As the area witnessed heavy snowfall "they stayed in a Gujjar Hut and burned some fire wood to keep themselves warm".
"However, one of them died due to the smoke inhalation, while another one was severely affected".
"A team from Pangi was on way to Kishtwar to take the body back but it is struck at Udhampur due to the closure of Jammu-Kishtwar highway", the ADC said further.
Sources on the other hand said that the district administration has been further informed by their counterparts in Chamba (HP) that two more government employees were on way to Kishtwar but they have neither reached to their destination nor they have reported back to their homes.
Police has launched a man hunt in the area to trace the missing Himachali, sources added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pangi in Chamba district of HP is connected to Paddar area of Kishtwar through various tracks and people in both the parts often visit each other after taking foot journey.
