Army claimed to have gunned down two Pakistani militants in Sunderbani area of Jammu Kashmir's Rajouri district, this evening.
Official sources said that based on specific inputs a massive search operation was launched in the forest area of Sunderbani area, last evening.
Two militants were spotted by the search party, who when challenged opened fire on the security forces, sources told News Agency of Kashmir adding, a brief encounter took place but militants managed to escape taking cover of the fire.
"The Troops maintained a tight cordon in the entire area and the militants were again spotted at Bindigala, 2 Kilometers South of Sunderbani, this evening", they said.
After a gun battle between the two sides both the militants were gunned down.
Defence spokesman Let Col SD Goswami told News Agency of Kashmir that the identity of the slain militants was being ascertained but they were believed to be Pakistan nationals. One UBGL, 2 AK rifles and one pistol besides some war like stores were recovered from their possession, he added. |
