| BDO, VLW acquitted from corruption charges | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 6 Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu, Mr Kartar Singh acquitted Altaf Hussain, the then BDO Bhaderwah and Prem Raj Village Level Worker Bhaderwah who are facing investigation and trial from 1995 as the Vigilance Organization failed to prove its case against the accused. According to the VO the alleged accused had caused loss to the state exchequer to the tune of Rs.70000 by embezzling 500 cement bags, out of 2620 bags purchased during his tenure as BDO. On completion of investigation, a challan was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption. The Special Judge Anticorruption in his 22 page judgment, after hearing both the sides, observed the prosecution has failed to prove the case against the accused .The defence taken by the accused stands proved and corroborated by the prosecution evidence. In order to prove its defence, the accused is at liberty to produce evidence in defence or rely upon the prosecution case and indirectly introduce such circumstances by way of cross-examination and rely on the probabilities and other circumstances. Court after considering all the facts and circumstances observed that Vigilance Organization has failed to prove its case against the accused beyond any reasonable shadow of doubt as such they are acquitted of the charges framed against them.
