| Hurriyat not in hurry to comment on Lone’s roadmap on Kashmir | | | Srinagar,August 25 :-The All Party Hurriyat Conference leadership has decided to keep its opinion reserved on the roadmap on Kashmir issue being made public by the Peoples' Conference Chief,Mr Sajjad Lone, next month. A senior APHC leader told Kashmir Independent Press on Friday "it is premature to comment on Sajjad Gani Lone's roadmap on Kashmir." He said that during the last 16 years many roadmaps had emanated from different quarters and from several countries."It is difficult to comment on any such roadmaps when the question of their implementation was no where in sight,"the Hurriyat leader said. Asked whether the APHC would support Mr Lone's exercise the Hurriyat leader said "unless we go through the roadmap nothing can be said about it when we are told that the roadmap runs into over 100 pages." Informed sources said that the APHC leadership may not get excited over Lone's roadmap because there is no love lost between the Hurriyat Conference leaders and Mr Sajjad Gani Lone after the latter quit the separatist conglomerate three years. However, his brother,Mr Bilal Lone, stayed under the Hurriyat umbrella and continues to be a member of its executive committee enabling him to be part of the party delegation in interacting with Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh. The two brothers are no longer on talking terms and hence indications are that the APHC leadership may avoid commenting on Sajjad's roadmap on Kashmir even though his idea does nor run counter to the Hurriyat stand on Kashmir. Reports said that Mr Sajjad Lone has,in his roadmap, which would be approved by the party's working committee shortly after it was okayed by the general council, suggested that during the last 16 years of turmoil people in Jammu and Kashmir had rendered great sacrifices and suffered tremendously which warranted a solution which could help them in believing that their sacrifices did not go waste. He has also suggested that credit should be given to the people of the state for all confidence building measures initiated by India and Pakistan, including opening of land routes and improving people to people contact instead of allowing the centre or the PDP to take the credit for these measures. His roadmap is on the lines of Buddha's golden mean.It is neither for total Azadi nor for deaccession and this is what the Hurriyat leadership explains about the self-governance idea.
