Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 6 Jammu and Kashmir skaters won as many as nine medals, including one in team event of junior girls roller hockey, in the 45th National Roller Skating Championship held recently at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. As also promising skater, Mir Daniyal brought home the coveted title of `Champion of Champion’ in Speed individual `inline’ category. He made a clean sweep winning all the three gold in rink race of 300 mts, 500 mts and 1000 mts to clinch the individual champion trophy. In team event, junior girls won bronze medal in roller hockey. The medal winner team was comprised of Shriya Sharma, Muskan Talwar, Ragni Gupta, Veerta Singh, Tarandeep Kour, Kavneet Kour, Prakriti Sharma, Ashima Gabgotra and Paras Thakur. Among individual medal winners were Divij Bagotra, who won gold medal in point to point (10,000 mts) race and also a silver medal in 1000 mts race. Chahat Masoom won two silver medals in 300 mts and 1000 mts while Paras Thakur won one bronze medal in 1500 mts. Part of the team, skaters who performed well reaching the finals of respective events include Rahul Verma, Rohan Kapoor, Arpit Verma, Ananya Khajuria, Shivang Gupta, Abhiek Gupta, Ankush Gupta, Abhishek Sharma, Payal Sharma, Neeraj Verma and Milapan Singh. The roller skating contingent participated in the Nationals under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Roller Skating Asociation headed by president G S Khurmi. Meanwhile, on return, the medal winners and other members of the contingent called on the president at Shiva Roller Skating Institute, Pir Kho to show case their achievement. Happy over the performance, Khurmi congratulated the players and their coaches for the achievement and also wished for their bright future. |
