| Mubarik Mandi Complex to have a new face | | | New Delhi | Feb 6 With the launch of restoration work from the first week of March, The historical Mubarik Mandi complex will have a new face. Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak accompanied by Director Tourism Jammu met Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Ms. Ambika Soni in New Delhi today. They discussed with the union minister for the speedy and time bound implementation of the restoration work of the Mubarik Mandi Complex by the archeological survey of India, for which Rs.4.37 Crores has already been released. Ambica Soni, union minister for tourism and culture, will be launching this programme funded by the ministry of culture in the first week of march. The minister also discussed provision of the services of national level expert agencies required to restore and display the rare artifacts and items of the weaponry etc. preserved under lock and key in the “Tosha Khana” of the Royal palaces in the Mubarik Mandi complex. Since the complex is a depository of manuscripts and historic records of the state, the Minister stressed for the need of guidance and assistance of the National Archives, New Delhi. Charak said, “Indian National trust for Culture and Heritage (INTACH) has been entrusted with the job of preparing documentation, project report and tender documents for the restoration of the work. Therefore the Ministry of tourism and culture was requested to prioritize the funding for the restoration and reuse of the cluster of the historic building”. |
