| MLA Ramban distributes LPG connections | | |  Early Times Report
Ramban, Apr 20: As part of the ongoing nationwide Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (April 14 to May 5) Ujjwala Diwas was celebrated at Ramban here today.
MLA Ramban Neelam Langeh and DDC Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai distributed LPG connections among eligible women hailing from BPL and SC/ST families under the programme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) a flagship scheme of the Union Government to provide clean cooking fuel to BPL women identified by the Indian Oil Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion MLA said that providing LPG connections to BPL households will ensure universal coverage of cooking gas in the country, he said. This measure will empower women and protect their health. It will reduce drudgery and the time spent on cooking.
He advised women to use it properly for making their life convenient and avoiding any untoward incident
Speaking on the occasion DDC said that Ujjwala Diwas being celebrated "Under the welfare scheme aims to empower women and improve their health by easing out the burden of cooking on wood and chulha besides creating awareness regarding the scheme. |
