| ‘Authorities allow parking tentatively’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 7 A deputation of Residency Road Traders Association today afternoon called on the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey, accompanying by State President BJP Ashok Khajuria, President Beopar Mandal Yashpal Gupta, Municipal Councilor Rajesh Gupta and Gulshan Mahajan Jammu Municipal Councilor, to press their demand for not lifting the parking lot from the Residency Road. This morning the shopkeepers in the posh Residency Road had downed their shutters and held strike to protest against the decision of the police and the traffic authorities to remove the parking lot run by the Municipal Corporation along side the road for parking of vehicles of the shopkeepers as well as the customers. The shopkeepers rued that this will cause a great hardship to the entire citizens in the area as there is no other parking lot as well as adversely affect their business. The Divisional Commissioner after hearing the deputation of the shopkeepers agreed that for the time being all vehicles parked in the parking lot on one side of the road will be allowed to continue parking there. But soon a parking lot will be set up for the shopkeepers nearby, where they will park their own vehicles after that, while the customers will be allowed to park their vehicles on one side of the Residency Road. The Residency Road Traders association has thanked the Divisional Commissioner for giving them patient hearing and conceding their demand sparing them the hardships. They also thanked all the leaders who accompanied them to the Div Com and supported their demand. Those who called on the Divisional Commissioner included Suraj Ram Sharma president of the association, Ravinder Jain Gen. Secy., Davinder Gupta Cashier, Ramesh Gupta, Sunil Mahajan, Ram Labhaya, Nissar Pal Suresh Soni and Naveed. |
